Many business owners tell us the same thing: "We have a website, but it never brings any work." The good news is that the causes are usually simple and fixable.
1. It is slow, especially on phones
If a page takes more than a few seconds to load on mobile data, many visitors leave before they see anything. Heavy images, old themes and cheap shared hosting are the usual culprits.
Fix: compress images to WebP, remove unused plugins and move to faster hosting with SSL.
2. Visitors cannot tell what you do
Vague headlines such as "Welcome to our website" waste the most valuable space on the page.
Fix: say what you offer, for whom and where, in one sentence. For example: "Industrial air coolers for factories and warehouses across North India."
3. No obvious next step
If the only contact option is a form hidden on a separate page, many people will not bother.
Fix: add a clear call to action on every page: call, WhatsApp, or a short enquiry form. One-tap WhatsApp chat works especially well in India.
4. It is not built for mobile
Tiny text, buttons that are too close together and pages that scroll sideways make people leave.
Fix: a responsive website design tested on real phones.
5. Google cannot understand it
If all your services sit on a single page, or your pages have no proper titles, Google has little reason to show you.
Fix: create a separate page for each service, product and location you serve, with descriptive titles, headings and alt text. Add a sitemap and link your Google Business Profile.
6. No proof
Customers want to see that real businesses trust you.
Fix: show client logos, photos of completed work, testimonials and how long you have been in business.
7. It looks out of date
Old copyright years, broken links and stock photos suggest the business may not be active.
Fix: refresh the design, update content regularly and add a blog that answers the questions customers ask.
A quick self-test
Open your website on your phone, on mobile data, and ask a friend to find your phone number and send you an enquiry. Time them. If it takes more than 30 seconds, you have found your first improvement.
Frequently asked questions
Should I redesign or just fix the problems?
If the site is built on an old, slow platform, a redesign is usually cheaper in the long run. If the structure is sound, targeted fixes may be enough.
Will a new website rank on Google straight away?
Search rankings build over weeks and months. A fast, well-structured site with useful content gives you the best start.
